Public storytelling guide

Your practical goal is to host a storytelling event that showcases the stories of people with IDD in your community. You can alter the plan, but we suggest five storytellers and in-person workshops and show.

Step 13

Post event feedback and follow up

After the show, it is beneficial to collect feedback and maintain connection with the audience members. Here are a few tips to do that smoothly.

Young people in an audience clap and cheer.
  • Contact information

At the show, be sure to collect contact information for all attendees who wish to give it.

  • Thank you note

After the show, send the attendees a thank you note including your callback/contact info/story topic. Ask for their feedback on the event.

  • Feedback

Be sure to check in with your partner program and (if possible) the individual storytellers to thank them and ask for feedback.

  • Media

Publish/air a story about the event including photos and video.
